European Touring Series 2008 Round 2: Vejle, Denmark

After a series of successful annual international races in Kastelaun (Germany) that were known as the (Team Orion) International Speed Weekend, have Uwe Rheinard and Scotty Ernst decided to host a series of races in Europe. The first race was already held in Germany in 2007 which was also known as the International Speed Weekend. The second round was held this weekend at Vejle, Denmark.
As on the first round saw the second round of the ETS also some famous drivers. The TRF Team was presented by former World Champion Marc Rheinard, Jilles Groskamp and Viktor Wilck. Steen Graversen (Kyosho) and Joel Myrberg also attended the race as many other racers from Denmark, Germany, Sweden and The Netherlands.

Nielsen and some other action.   An other video of the Modified practise rounds round showing: Steen Graversen, Jilles Groskamp and Joel Myrberg.

In the modified practice rounds was Jilles Groskamp setting the pace followed by Marc Rheinard and
Viktor Wilck
. Tamiya had a really strong team for this race. The Serpent driver, Nicolai Nielsen was setting the pace in the 'pro stock class' followed by Rasmus T. Callesen with his Corally RDX-PHI.

Jilles Groskamp's Tamiya TRF416 powered by SMC batteries, Speed Passion motor and a Nosram speedo.   Nicolai Nielsen's Serpent S400 setting a good pace in the pro stock class.   New SpeedPassion Competition 2.0 brushless motor.

Jilles Groskamp took the top qualifying spot by winning the first three qualifiers and being the first racer to break 'the 22 laps barrier'. The second and third spots were taken by teammates Marc Rheinard and Viktor Wilck . Joel Myrberg had a tough time, and a weird problem with his Associated TC5 which he couldn't solve till Sunday. Joel was not setting the predicted (good) pace on Saturday, but had eventually solved his problems solved on Sunday, the last qualifier and the day of the finals. Here bellow are some videos from the Saturday qualifying action:

A-Main 1:

The TRF Team: Jilles Groskamp, Marc Rheinard and Viktor Wilck. Steen Graversen trying to break the Tamiya Team. Steen Graversen's Kyosho prototype looked prety similar to the one he used on the DHI Cup and the TICT.

The A-Main modified was won by TQ holder Jilles Groskamp. Jilles was set under big pressure by his teammates Marc Rheinard and Viktor Wilck. Marc tried in the beginning of the race to overtake Jilles, but hadn't succeeded. In the end of the race Jilles had hit a dot and Marc gave him a little tap, the two teammates rejoined the race in the old order. Meanwhile Viktor Wilck had made his race more interesting by making a late mistake of his. Viktor was heavily followed by the Kyosho driver Steen Gravers, but he couldn't split the powerful Tamiya podium. Here are standings from the first A-Main:

A-Main 2:

Joel Myrberg still struggled in finals, after having bad luck in the qualifiers. Jilles Groskamp won both A-Main finals and took the overall win. Nicolai Nielsen had also secured his win in the second A-Main.

In modified had Jilles Groskamp secured the overall win by also finishing first in the second A-Main. Marc Rheinard and Viktor Wilck had a little moment on turn 2 of the first lap which dropped them down in the field. The two teammates had to clime up in the field, but Jilles and Steen were to far away to catch. Steen couldn't make a real threat to Jilles' lead, who won the main later on. Marc could pass Soren Eskildsen for the third spot while Viktor had overtaken the fifth spot from Johan Eskildsen.
