The touring car German National
Championships modified and stock class were held from 29th to 31st of
August in Mettenheim, Germany. Top Corally team driver Marc Fischer won 2
of the 5 qualifying rounds, setting the new track record by 16,25sec,
taking the TQ. Ronald Völker finished second and
Martin Hofer in third both with exactly the same time, 18 laps in 302.096
seconds.
The first final was won by Ronald
Völker while
Marc Fischer was struggling a bit with his car due some tweak from the
last qualifier.
In the second final the start was very nice and Marc was able to take the
lead, winning with a distance to Ronald. But since Martin Hofer had a pair
of new tires and Marc and Ronald had to race on old tires, was Marc only
able to defend his 1st position for 4min 20sec, so Martin won this race
and Marc got second for the second time.
With two of the three finals run four drivers had the chance to take the
championship title home. Ronald Völker
with a first and third position, Marc had two second positions, Martin
Hofer with a tenth and a first position and also Steven Weiss with two
times third positions. Marc was able to take the title home by driving
without any mistakes with his RDX-PHI on old tires, setting the fastest
final track record. Martin Hofer finished second with his Yokomo BD-3
prototype and Ronald Völker third. Here are the top
ten standings:
